Vicki Bruce inspires children to enjoy reading by creating entertaining picture books. Early literacy is the key to happy children, parents, and teachers.
Seven years ago Vicki asked Faye Wright if she would illustrate an 'Old Adage' book. 'Old Adages for the Young at Heart' series are picture books for adults. The series is designed for adults who may have dementia or vision loss.
"I am not sure if there are other picture books for adults, but over the years, as a librarian, I was asked for books for readers with Alzheimer's or dementia, I would head to the children's section and try to find large print books adults might like. This was not an easy task" - Vicki
Over 450 Dragonflies were submitted to Fairy Ride from Brock Townshup Schools, Libraries, and Beyond.
Vicki donates a percentage of 'Fairy Ride' proceeds to this important program organized by two talented teachers:

Faye Wright

Faye enjoys using pastels and pen and ink drawings with a bit of colour. She also loves working with acrylic mediums.
She has lived on her hobby farm since 1987 and welcomes new guests to her home, her favourite being a potbelly pig!
Juliet Rohlmann
GOAAALLLIE & Squirrel Hotel Illustrator
Juliet Rohlmann is a practicing illustrator and tattoo artist based in Shelburne, Ontario. She graduated from OCAD University’s Life Studies program in 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Art where she focused on mental health awareness in her artwork. Since graduating, she dabbled in textile art and sustainable fashion before settling into her current practice.
Gracie Jones
Fairy Ride Illustrator
Fairy Ride illustrator Gracie Jones is an artist and designer. She is an expert with almost any medium and she is designing and selling custom car decals. She recently graduated from The Interior Design Institute.
In high school, she not only was on the honour roll but received an art award. She is very proud of her achievements and is excited about making her goals become her reality.
Vicki met Gracie when she was nine years old at Brock Libraries and knew that one day they would team up on a literary project!
